Surcharges are protective simulation fees applied under specific conditions to maintain pool stability:
• Solvency Surcharge (Categorical Markets): Applied when a trade places the pool under deficit risk where projected liabilities exceed the current pool balance.
• Peg Alignment Surcharge (Continuous Markets): Applied when a trade pushes the local AMM price further away from the external live asset price.
In line with Kinetix's zero-sum design, 100% of all collected surcharges are held permanently in the local market pool as collateral to meet winning payouts and liabilities. Surcharges are non-refundable.
